Methods to Transfer Grant Money from SASSA Card to Capitec Bank Account

After fulfilling the requirements, you can proceed to transferring SASSA card money to your Capitec account. It can be done using online method or by visiting the SASSSA office. I will explain you both methods in details.

1. Online Method to Transfer Grant money to Capitec Account

Out of the above-mentioned methods, the online one is more convenient. I will walk you through the process in detail. You just need to follow these steps:

Step 1: Go to the SASSA Website

Start by visiting the official SASSA website and finding the “How do I change my banking details” section. You can open the website by clicking the link.

Step 2: Enter your ID

Next, enter your 13-digit South African ID below the heading “How do I change my banking details” and click the “Submit” button. You will see a form to change your banking details on the next page.

Step 3: Fill the Form

Now, fill out the form to change your banking details for the SASSA grant. Here, you will type your ID and SASSA registered phone number.

Step 4: Receive the SMS

After that, the SASSA will send you an SMS containing a 6-digit OTP. Enter this OTP on the SASSA website to verify your PIN.

Step 5: Enter Capitec Bank Account Details

Next, enter the correct details of your Capitec Bank Account, such as account number, branch code, and account type on the website.

Step 6: Submit the Form

Now, after entering all the bank account details, submit the form.

After that SASSA will verify your banking details approximately in a week, after confirmation, they will send the grant amount to your Capitec account.

2. In-Person Method for Sending Payments to a Capitec Bank Account

If you do not want to use the online method, you can also transfer your grant from the SASSA card to the Capitec account by visiting the SASSA office. Please go through these steps:

Step 1: Get the SASSA Annexure C Form

First, visit your nearest SASSA office and get the Annexure C Form. You can also download it from the SASSA website. 

This form is mandatory to receive your grant money in the Capitec Bank or any other bank account.

Step 2: Stamping of the Form

Next, go to your nearby Capitec Bank branch to fill out and get the bank verification stamp on the SASSA Annexure C Form. 

This stamp confirms that you have an active account in the bank and can receive a SASSA Social grant through it.

Step 3: Submit the Stamped Form to the SASSA Office

Now, visit the SASSA office to submit the stamped form with your bank statement and fingerprint verification.

Step 4: Receive Your Grant in the Capitec Bank Account

After receiving the stamped form, SASSA will verify your bank account details. It will send a confirmation message to your registered phone number. Then, the SASSA team will confirm your account details. It can take five to seven days. After verification, you will receive the grant payments directly into your Capitec Bank account. You can withdraw this money through a Capitec Bank ATM card.

Note: SASSA will take a few days to verify bank details before transferring money to the Capitec account. So, you have to wait.
