SASSA Reapplication Process And Status Check For SRD R350 Grant
SASSA’s (South African Social Security Agency) SRD(Social Relief of Distress) grant program has become a lifeline for individuals and families who are facing economic hardships and are not even in a state of hand-to-mouth. SRD R350 provides monthly financial support to those who become eligible for the grant and keep it until the applicant meets grant criteria.
SASSA also provides a reapplication facility to their beneficiaries once a month. If their initial grant application is rejected, they failed to apply for the grant within the given time, or their circumstances have changed since they submitted their initial application, like they were employed at the time of initial submission, but now they are unemployed.
So, SASSA beneficiaries can utilize the reapply opportunity and can avail of the SRD R350 grant. It is crucial to highlight that people who regularly receive the R350 grant do not need to reapply every month as long as they match the eligibility criteria; their grant will be automatically renewed each month.
Reasons for SASSA Reapplication:
There are multiple reasons you may need to reapply for your SASSA grant. These reasons include:
How To Reapply For SRD R350 Grant – Step-by-Step Guide
There are two ways to reapply for the SRD R350 grant: one is to apply online via the SRD official website, and the other is to apply at your nearest SASSA office. Applying online is the easiest and most convenient way, as you only need a cell phone, laptop, or computer with a good internet connection.
Whichever method you choose to apply, I recommend checking your eligibility criteria before applying and understanding the reasons why your previous SRD application was rejected and avoiding them in your reapplication.
SRD R350 Grant Reapplication Online via SASSA Website
Reapplying online through SASSA’s official website is an easy method. You need to follow the steps mentioned below:
Step 1: Visit the SASSA official Website
Go to the SRD website using the link https://srd.sassa.gov.za/said. Scroll down to the tab “Update your grant application“. You will find a button “click here to update your existing application”, click on that button, and you will be redirected to the next page.
Step 2: Provide Your ID Number and Mobile Number
If you are an African citizen, you will be asked to enter your South African ID card number and mobile number. In case of an Asylum seeker or a special permit holder, you will be asked to provide your file number or a passport number. Provide your information and click on the “send sms” button.
Step 3: Mobile OTP Verification
Once you submit your mobile number, you will receive an OTP verification pin on your cell phone number. You need to put that pin on the website screen and click verify. It will make you eligible to enter into your personal info dashboard.
Step 4: Update Your Information And Provide the Documents
After logging in to your portal, you will see your submitted information. You may update your information if it was previously submitted incorrectly or if your circumstances have changed. You must also provide all the required documents to strengthen your application.
Step 5: Resubmit Your Application
After making the necessary changes, double-check your provided or updated information and make sure you have provided the up-to-date and correct information. Now accept the terms and conditions and resubmit your application.
Step 6: Save Your Reference Number
After you submit your reapplication, you will receive a confirmation message: ’’Your request for reapplication has been successfully received’’. You will also receive a reference number. Keep this reference number safe, as you may need it in the future to track the progress of your application and status check.
Step 7: Stay Informed About Your Application Status
After completing your reapplication process, check your status regularly through the online portal to stay updated on your application progress. Your request for reapplication may take up to 15 working days, but sometimes up to 90 days, to approve. It depends on the amount of applications they are receiving. Be patient, and if the delay is too long, contact SASSA at their toll-free number, 0800 60 10 11, to get an update on your application.

If your SASSA SRD reapplication is rejected, SASSA will provide you with the reason for the rejection and the appeal process. You can appeal the decision to the Independent Tribunal for Social Assistance Appeals (ITSAA) within 90 days of receiving the rejection notice.

Hi Gershwin,
Please follow this guide to apply for SASSA R350 grant: https://sassagrantstatuscheck.co.za/srd-r350-grant/
I have received 350from 2021 to 2022 January , February and March then my 350 stopped, until I reapplied on December 2022 and got it until today. So my question is why did I not received my 350 for April to November 2022 ? Because during that time it didn’t even decline or be rejected or even pending.those months does not even appear on my 350 check status
Hi Zimaseka,
That time you need to have reapply for SRD R350 after every three months to continue receiving your grant. The reason was that you didn’t reapply on time, and only got the grant payments after reapplication.
But as of now, SASSA has changed this policy and now you don’t need to reapply after every three months. You will receive your grant payments until you are fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
My 359 null I need 350 I’m not working
Hi Smangele,
Sorry for the confusion, can you please let me know that your grant is rejected?
